Yep I went with Dave's c grind. He plans on swapping his cam for the c grind. I think his current one is less low end but amazing high rpm performance. The c is a great cam that rips up to the rpm limit. Very good street cam. My car would quit at 6k with the a cam. I can't remember the chokes or jetting. I'll post what we end up with when we tune it.

Cool man, yes the A simply can't take advantage of the carbs. Fun stuff no?!

So Finally got the Solex's dialed in with Premo. Took a while to lean it up as it was sucking fuel like crazy. Numbers ended up at
160 Air
140 fuel
40 pump
and 55 pilot
(pretty sure we put in 37 chokes during rebuild but didn't double check)
sent me home with some smaller fuels to try out but man, am I glad to be running right. The adjust-ability of these carbs are amazing. Little easier than custom grinding your su needles. And they look and sound amazing. Riding passenger was very different and I think it help Dave decide he needs to hurry up and install his same cam. Buttery smooth power very drive able as it has decent low end but takes off at 3k+ Very happy customer. Will be tearing up Shasta next week. Next stop a Dyno!

I forgot to mention my favorite thing! No more of my very shaky idle. It's sort of what started the whole carb swap from my worn out su's. New Su's would've worked great but I like the look and sound of Solex's and figured I might as well.

Been awhile! I've been taking my interior apart and assessing it. So far everything is solid except for the passenger floor pan. But today's project was upgrading the fuse box. The old one was OK but would blow a fuse every once in a while, and those glass fuses are getting harder to find! I found a simple replacement and ordered the 8 fuse version for radio upgrades later.

After: Attached to a piece of cardboard for now but I should be pulling the dash soon, once I'm ready to paint the car.


In progress pic: Was a little tough soldering the 2 thick wires with a thick jumper wire together. Turned out sturdy and didn't burn it down! (Don't worry I went back and made it look a littler nicer after this.)

Nice upgrade! The '68s really do have an issue in that department.

It has begun! I checked all of my trouble spots and only had 1 pinhole on the drivers fender. Floor pans only need a few inches of repair. Everything looks solid! Going to a nearby classic shop Tuesday for a quote, planning on stripping and taking the body to them to keep costs down and make it real nice.

Slow progress on starting the body work, got the trunk lid stripped. First with paint stripper then cleaned up with the paint stripper pad. Swirls look worse in pics and are very light. Should be adding primer and block sanding soon as a test panel.


Also stopped by Mike Youngs place for a new windshield and a 68 mirror.
But found out my 68 (#4998)has a later mirror with 2 studs! oh well...

getting stuff done this weekend! Er... undone.
Checked out the floor pans. passenger side is the worst, previous owners just duct taped some metal strips down to cover the holes. Going to borrow my friends welder to get that taken care of.

It has! I've been very happy with it mechanically for a few years now. Figured it's time to make it look nice.

Today I fixed the glove box on the new (used) dash. Fixing a few things before sending off to JustDashes.
Used epoxy and Clamps to re-attach it.


trunk had a little rust on the back seam, so laid some rust converter over it and sanded it away.
Then I was eager to test out my new compressor, so I scuffed and cleaned the underside of the trunk lid and sprayed some primer.

Got the trunk lid body work done, didn't need a lot. smoothed it out to 320 grit and she's ready for primer.

Then started on the hood, got all the old coating of and sprayed with rust converter. Almost done stripping the top too.

This stuff came off real easy, wish I could say the same for the paint on top.
