Live and learn! Frustrating! Regarding the fuel pump and oil, I can't say for sure that this is the cause, but I just remember reading about it somewhere, so check it out. Also, you should just set your timing to 0 for now until you get the right distributor, otherwise it will be waaaaaay to advanced!

Hey the good news is those brake aren't leaking all over the place, so you can get to it whenever. Brake fluid is so NASTY!

Re: The Roadsterstein Rust Rocket build thread!!!
I swear I still exist! Sorry about the complete lack of updates recently... the car has been idle, but I have not. I've been busy with school, trying to get a promotion at work, got a new girlfriend (who helps with the car!!!) and I'm trying to replace my daily driver. Also, thinking of buying a house. See, my excuse is good! lol!
Anyhow, I've decided I'd like to find a nice AE86 Corolla to replace my Accord. Of course, they are stupid rare, and stupid expensive! I test drove one tonight, but it was way to rough to be a good DD. I know, tons of people are probably going to call me a traitor, but damn, what a great little car. Don't worry though, I'm a Datsun guy for life, I just want a fun reliable DD... something more interesting than a '92 Accord! I'll try to keep you all posted on any new news.
I also scored a badass new toolbox, if that counts for anything! Now I might actually be able to find my tools, so something might get done, instead of searching for a wrench for hours! Check it out!!!

The black one on the left is my old one... The little blue one used to sit on the black one, and that was all I had. Hard to believe I tried to use that, considering the red box is mostly full at this point. I must have 30+ screwdrivers!!!

nice toolbox! I'm where you used to be, plus a bunch of magnetic strips on the walls. I want that.

Re: The Roadsterstein Rust Rocket build thread!!!
Thanks, guys! I couldn't stand working on the car how it was... I spent more time looking for tools than actually working, and couldn't stay organized for the life of me! Plus, I honestly didn't know what I had. As for updates, perhaps after the holidays are over and things calm down, yes! They will likely be coming slowly, as I am trying to pay down debt and prepare to buy a house... time to stop renting and build some equity! Whatever house I get, you can bet it will have a garage!!! That is almost more important than the house, if I'm honest. I'm tired of borrowing my parent's garage every time I want to work. That limits the scope of my projects severely. It's the primary reason I haven't gotten anything done on the KA swap.
I always imagined you with a grand assortment of tools in a huge box, Garm! You should go get one... very useful. This one was really reasonable, too. I paid $580 for the whole thing! I got it from Harbor Freight. It is a US General PRO... and is superb quality for the price! I use the same brand box at work every day, and it works great. The quality rivals Snap-On or Matco, without the price! Seriously, this is a tough box. It has a couple minor flaws, but not significant, and they could be eliminated if it was important. The drawers are all ball bearing slides, and even when loaded they slide like butter. I love it! Merry Christmas to me! lol

As long as you make it to Solvang, all is forgiven.
Harbor Freight is about a mile from here, that's really tempting....
What you got, I think, is two items, for anyone interested:
69387 and 68785

and

AND they have THIS for the top!!
68787

Re: The Roadsterstein Rust Rocket build thread!!!
You are right! Here is the best part... there is also a big cabinet that can be added, and the set of drawers on the side can go on either side. You could potentially add two of them and have a ton of tool storage and a nice countertop to work on, which I like. It's brilliant. It comes with drawers that have drawer liners in them already, and the silver trim on the front of each drawer has a label built into it so you can label what is stored in it! It's a super nice box. It can support 2000lbs of tools, too!!! You could set a Datsun on it! lol

Re: The Roadsterstein Rust Rocket build thread!!!
This is the one I've been using at work now for over a year and a half. I use it every day. It rivals the quality of my co-worker's Snap-On. It is also excellent! I don't need many tools for my job. (I am a car audio installer, and also do security and remote start systems professionally, if anyone didn't know.)

I bought it for $160 when it was on sale a while back... SO worth it! Deal of the century, IMO!
Hot Rodding magazine even wrote an article about it: http://blogs.popularhotrodding.com/6736 ... tool-cart/

Holy cow, you are an entrepreneur! It's hard to imagine running three businesses that are all so different from one another! I was always curious what you did... I guessed you ran a speed shop or something when I read your build thread. I guess I wasn't too far from the truth.

Small world, I bought some of your iron flower cup rainchains for my house when I remodeled it 5 years ago. Love them.Garm wrote:oh, well thanks for asking!
