Hood Latch Question

Post by Sol_Stew »

Hello roadsterers-

I mentioned in my introduction post that my sister's car was missing a few pieces of the hood latch.
The car is from 1966, but may or may not have the original year's hood or front end.

I've had my sister take photos with a tape measure to provide some scale. I've had to shrink the photos a bit for size issues as attachments, so if anyone thinks larger photos would be more helpful I can email them to someone.
It looks like the hood piece is missing. It's the pokey part that blasts you in the back of the head when you least expect it. :D
Can anyone identify the proper part and point me to someone who has an extra they would sell?

Many thanks in advance!

I can see why it doesn't latch

I think your chances of picking up a used one are high, wouldn't like to try and get new though
I reckon that hardware is the same as fitted to the PL510 and maybe the S30[240Z].

In the other thread, where you first posed your question, the 3rd picture in Nissanman's first reply is the part you need.

It looks like she is missing the release cable as well.

I've asked her to check on the presence of the hood release pull-knob and cable. Might as well cover all the bases on a parts purchase!

Thanks, Nissanman, for the parts book pages! Very helpful.

Ok! A couple questions-

I found Sports Imports, but the online catalog doesn't list body parts. Still, email contact is possible.

I perused the registry on 311s.org and found a listing for Mike Young, but no email address or other contact info.
Any clues on how to get hold of him?

edit:
Ah! Nevermind. Found in the vendor list!

Neither of them are good at listing parts on line, but both are fantastic with a quick phone call!

While we are at it, this should provide you most the information you may need for these little cars. This, plus the expert advice on this board, you can't go wrong. :P
