Does MSD Blaster 2 coil fit stock bracket?

Gary's EI dizzy arrived yesterday. Reading the instructions, I discovered (duh!) that I need to replace the coil. One of Gary's suggestions is the MSD Blaster 2.

I'm not at home to measure (oh, why didn't I think of this last night - DOH!), so does anyone know offhand if the MSD Blaster 2 coil will fit in the stock coil bracket so I can order this ASAP?

It does fit in the stock holder, however it must be mounted verticly. It will die if you don't. I think that was one of my gremlins when I installed the new engine.

I've been running blaster 2 coils on my street car and the race car for 4 years, in the horizontal position. No problems to date.

Revised Answer: There is 100-percent agreement that the MSD Blaster 2 coil will fit the stock Roadster coil bracket. However, there are 2 or 3 who say the coil must be mounted vertically, though I have no idea why; The oil and/or electricity will leak out? It's easier to read the MSD logo? I dunno.

Btw, I'm getting p/n 8202 (from Summit Racing), which is the shiny red one w/o the ballast resistor since I won't need no stinkin' ballast resistor w/ my new GB EI dizzy.

One step closer to Shasta 2005......

The coil is oil filled, my first one lasted 4 months. I got it warrantied, but I have been told the they need to be vertical to cool it. I cannont verify this however.

I put in a MSD (8202) Blaster 2 when I installed Gary's EI Dizzy. The MSD (8213) coil bracket was only $6.95 (chrome). The instructions with the coil explain what position to put it in.

Guys

I have a blaster II in my racecar mounted horizontally in the original bracket. Season number two is just over and I have had no issues with failure, I am willing to bet that in one weekend my car sees enough heat and vibration to equal a total year in a street car.

I would say that no special mounting requirements are needed.

There are 2 types of Blaster Coils, the standard and the "High Vibration" type. The standard is oil filled, and is supposed to be mounted vertical. The HV is epoxy potted, and according to MSD http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_3.htm

The High Vibration Coil can be mounted in any position and can be used with a standard canister coil mount.
