Tonneau cover with a roll bar
Well at long last I got this project done, a tonneau cover modified for a roll bar.
Been thinking about it for a while:
http://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... neau+cover" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Then heard about another member who did it:
http://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... neau+cover" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So finally got a correct used tonneau for my 68 instead of trying to modify the 67 tonneau I had. I took the pic of Shifty's tonneau to Zuniga Auto Upholstery in Northridge, CA and for 50 bucks he modified it and patched a little rip. Turned out good enough and it even fit. I like the look of a tonneau and it helps keep the interior and dash from baking in the summer heat.

Re: Tonneau cover with a roll bar
Thanks for the appreciation, moral support, pics and advice!
Re 67 tonneau I am going to get a grommet reinstalled, find a 67 to try it for fit and then sell it. I want to be able to tell someone if it fits or not, otherwise it's a guessing game. Otherwise though I think you can still use a shrunken tonneau to just lay over the seats. I did notice on the 67 that the grommets were in different places in the back from my 68 twisties, not sure if that is the case for all.
I still like the idea of a 1/2 tonneau....something up to the seats, perhaps including head rests, using a bar or cable across to stabilize.
Well, it's 70 deg, time to drive!

Re: Tonneau cover with a roll bar
If you look on the trim piece around the opening, there should be 2 brass grommets and a reinforced hole down through the body. Ideal spot for a crossbar to drop in. I've also seen many people just unhook the front half and roll the tonneau behind the seat. Looks good BTW

Re: Tonneau cover with a roll bar
Very nice job. Looks great. Makes me want to get my streeter going. By the way, that's not really a roll bar, it's a hang-on bar for the crazies riding on the rear deck... isn't it?

Re: Tonneau cover with a roll bar
Right, it's not a true rollbar, just something to complement the tonneau.
