clutch adjustment
Well folks I can't seem to find specs or proceedure to adjust the free travel on my new clutch for my '69 2000. It seems to engage right at the top of the pedal with no free travel. I put in a new pin at the master cylinder to pedal pivot, there is little to no slop there. Is the only other adjustment at the slave cylinder? and how and to what specification. It's 80 degrees here in North Idaho, the roadster is running fine. I want to spend the weekend terrorizing the country side but do not want to trash my new clutch. Thanks for any help Pat Mahoney p.s. the help I need is for the roadster, the mental health issues will be resolved with a weekend of roadstering.

There should be a bit of pedal freeplay. I will have to look that one up. To adjust the clutch slave you need to loosen up the nuts on the slave adjusting rod. Take the srping off first though.
Once the nuts are loose back off on the adjusting nut and then slowly begin to tighten it until all play is removed. Back off one quarter of a turn, tighten the locking nuts and repalce the spring. That pretty much does it every time. I did a write up on clutch stuff several weeks ago. Sounds like you might need to bleed your clutch slave. You should be able to push the piston all the way back into the cylinder. You should see a rise in fluid level in the master resovoir. Once you have done that, try to reajust the actuator and go from there.

PS If you need a new slave, there should be a part number for one on the site here. I did mine last year and posted the part #. It was for a Raybestos part.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

From the parts interchange list just in case-----------35. Clutch slave Raybestos #SC37213. Fits perfectly, everything bolts right up. Bought at the local Parts Plus store for about $32.

Hey guys,
Actually I bled the slave for about a half hour the other day. The fluid in the master was totally black, and that's why I was under there in the first place. The rod on the slave cylinder seems to move smoothly (granted it moves much farther after the fluid was changed), but I can't adjust the nuts in the whole way to get any freeplay in the fork.
I guess for $30 I should just go ahead and swap the slave out. Cheap insurance huh?
