I belong to the Sin City Z car club and a bunch of the club are looking at making the trip. I don't think I will make it due to ankle surgery I have put off long enough to upset my surgeon! I will be unable to drive for 6 to 8 weeks!

Just came from the Hotel where they are gathering...of course everyone loved the Roadster, since it was the only one there....LOL I was going to enter mine into the Heritage Datsuns People's Choice Category tomorrow, but I would have had to buy the mandatory convention pass $85, and the car show fee $40. Don't they know that I have no money left after restoring this thing?? I guess I'll just drop by and visit...SUX.

Woody:
It's cool that you are going and represent'n Roadsters! Bummer you can't enter, sounds like you would have a darn good chance at placing or taking a trophy!
Thanks for sharing, share more please, any pictures?

We had a crazy day at ZCON 2010 in Franklin, TN yesterday.

The event is a Z-car-centric event, and other than Nissan's 1600, we had the only roadster there (that I saw anyway!) But it was still an amazing event despite the suffocating heat and humidity...

A few years ago, Nissan moved their US Headquarters from Gardena, California to Franklin, TN, and they have built an impressive facility.

The show (approximately 400 Z-cars) was held on the front lawn in front of the building. Unfortunately, there was a pretty good rainstorm early in the morning before the show, and the humidity coming off of the grass during the day made it a less than nice place to check out the cars (it was sweltering out there!)

There were awesome Z's nearly everywhere you looked. 311s member Ron Carter had his awesome 46 BRE 240Z on display:

Alongside that was this awesome East African Safari rally car replica:

The Lane Auto Museum brought out their Nissan Figaro:

John Morton and Peter Brock from BRE were on hand, and John spent some time checking out James' roadster:

Nissan had many of their vintage cars from their collection out on the lawn. Here is a shot of their 1970 1600 (VIN SPL310-30070 4-70 production date). I had seen this car when it was out in California about 10-years, so it was interesting to see it again (it has 291 miles on it!):

Here is the live band from the event, "The Dirty Curties", doing their best to destroy the convertible top for a Nissan photo shoot... I just had to walk away...

Other than that, we had a great day, and got to meet lots of great people! I also ran into Les from Classic Datsun, Woody, and a few other roadster e-mail list members.

Dennis Gage from "My Classic Car" (http://www.myclassiccar.com) was at the show and picked James' car as one of the 5-cars that they are going to feature in their show about the event! Look for a feature on James' car next season!

Dennis was a very cool guy with a great sense of humor, and he knew a surprising amount about roadsters. We had a great visit before and after our on-camera interview.

Did I mention that it was sweltering out there? :P

Enjoy,

Michael

James was a super nice guy. I really enjoyed speaking with them. If you have never seen this roadster in person you are missing out on a treat. It was by far the show favorite. I went home and looked at mine and decided i have a lot of work to do.
