VIN Plate - correct stamp ?

Post by hport »

All,

With regards to the VIN plate on the cowl above the bulkhead. What is the correct way to stamp the numbers, from the front, or from the back ?
I have a new plate and would like to replicate the original stamping. The one on my vehicle now has the stamping on the back side which causes raised numbers on the front of the plate. I have also seen numbers stamped from the front ? Vehicles in question are 66 1600 and 68 -69 2000

From the front, I believe, but some of the guys are much more knowledgeable than I. Good luck.

The original ID tags were stamped from the front.
