Reverse light hookups on tranny?

I have been trying to get my reverse lights to operate. In tracing the lights back from the dash I discovered them just hanging around the tranny. I know they should hook up but I cant find any fittings on the transmission that will accept the 2 plugs. Does anyone know where on the transmission they reside?

Ron,

There should be a switch on the passenger side of the tranny with a two wire connection. Someone could have snipped the wires on you. Look real close while under the car and you will see it as it is screwed into the case and sticks out a bit.
