Looks great!
Did you end up using a MOMO roadster hub?
Turn signal cancelling pins should work.
Ebay should have plenty of horn buttons

Thanks, Alvin!
I know it's not a major project like the some of the genius motorheads on this board do, (LOL) , but it is satisfying to be able to do something once in a while!
I did use a Momo hub, originally for a 240Z, and it fits pretty well . It is slightly shaving the Roadster plastic surround though, but no big deal.
I have seen lots of horn buttons on EBAY also.

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
If the horn isn't working, either the contact isn't touching the copper ring on the "front" of the adapter, or the little wire isn't being grounded by the button. Touch the wire to the steering column. If it beeps, switch is bad or not making contact with the whel for ground.
IIRC, I had to bend the arm out a bit to touch the copper ring.
For the cancelling pins, look on the stock wheel, and copy what you see.
Best finish for the wheel is UV resistant Spar Varnish, but you peobably would need to strip it first.

Here's the horn button I made. I used a Datsun patch, cut to fit, and put it in another button as a replacement for the Momo button that broke. Steering wheel project complete.

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
Thread revival...
So a little help here. I want to get rid (into a box for the future) of my stock wheel ('69) and install a smaller diameter after market wheel (I like the momos and sparcos) with a functioning horn button. I had one on my gtr and it was easy to get a hub adaptor since it is a newer car than our roadsters.
Can anyone direct me to the correct parts and possible vendors to get me set up? I'm looking for some reference info so I can search CL, ebay, etc., with confidence. Thanks.

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
If you want to use a MOMO wheel here is the 240Z adapter that works on EBAY.....pricey though.

For a Grant, Nardi etc check EBAY for adapters for those.

Linda, I assume this means that any one that fits the s30 z cars work for our roadsters? Same for the 510s?

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
Dave,
According to the MOMO site the 3503 adapter fits the 240 as well as others and this is the substitute for the Roadster one which is NLA (3500?) I believe :
http://www.momousa.com/products/product ... -hubs.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyone else have any other info to share on this, so we can be certain?
Linda
Maybe junkyards would have a used one.

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
My wheel was mounted using a datsun boss from a 1600 sedan 0r 510 I think in USA, I had to modify the adapter to fit the roadster, I had to reduce the centre length of the Taper by 9mm in the lathe, which entailed removing the horn contact first, machine the boss then replace the horn contact, bit of messing about but I tried for months to get the correct boss here with no luck, I got the wheel from ebay and also the horn button. (boss is Momo )

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
Testing a new steering wheel for a friend. It is from Renown.
My old (2001) MOMO Competition 350mm

Monaco Rosso full leather 350mm

Red stitching:

Installed, bolts up to existing MOMO hub:

I was drawn to this wheel because of the grip choices (leather, perforated leather, suede) and wide range of stitching options. Thought the red might complement interior/finishes. My only concern was being able to run my vintage "Datsun" horn button..and it works

Re: Steering wheel installation and mods photos
i really like that wheel! Looks like the Momo prototipo but with red stitching which works great with your interior.
I run a Momo Indy wheel with the Grant hub adapter and then a Momo to Grant adapter. Very easy install, no modification necessary.
Does anyone have a source for a rubber accordion type steering column cover like Alvin has pictured above?
