New guy with two SPL311 1600
New to this Forum as well as to Datsun Roadsters.
My name is Daniel and I live in San Angelo, TX. I just recently purchased not one, but two 1969 Datsun 1600 Roadsters. Yes, I am now asking the question "WHY?". I have never worked on a Datsun/Nissan and have always had a passion for MG's. Yes, I do have a 1978 MGB V8 project that I am also working on.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this forum and providing the very useful information that I have been able to read the last couple of weeks.

!
Welcome!
As far as your question of WHY?
Well two responses to that:
1) Why not
2) Why MG's?!?!
Needless to say, you will quickly be cured or your past continental auto choice mix-ups once the full fever takes over (if you've bought one (OR TWO!!), you've already caught it!).
Pictures please, and yes of your previous MG's would be great too so we will know what to expect!
You're in the right spot.
Oh yes, and heaven forbid that you might have some MG tips or suppliers or aftermarket ideas that might just prove useful to this Marque!

Re: New guy with two SPL311 1600
Happy to get rid of all that useless MG V8 stuff for you, just send the address, I'll pick it up
. BTW, 99% sure if you use a later crank drive oil pump timing cover, the Rover V8 will fit in the Datsun.

Daniel,
welcome, and once you get some miles on the roadster, the MG may be jealous of all the time spent with the new roadsters.

Re: New guy with two SPL311 1600
Thank you everyone for all of your kind welcomes.
Oh....my MGB V8 stuff. Yeah I have a lot to die for, but just not much time to work on lately because of these two fairladies.
These cars are very nice to drive. Rather expensive compared to MG's though. Parts are limited and that should be expected as these cars are becoming rather rare. I think I am on the right thought process.
I do hate the convertible top header rail. Why the heck are they that fragile to bending/bowing? Yes I need to do some research on how to fix that issue as well.
Thanks everyone for the very warm welcome.

Welcome! I don't know how I missed your first post. Anyway, glad to have you here. At least one of the vendors offers a repair for the header bow. Make sure you have the spacer under the center latch - it helps.
