Sky Blue Roadster in Piedmont anyone?

Post by JoeK »

I saw a '69 or '70 2000 on my way home from work today. Right around the corner from my jobsite, in fact. It was sky or baby blue with orange racing stripes and the number 13 on the doors. Anybody on the list own this car? Just wonderin'.

Hopefully mine will be back on the road by the end of the week.

Bingo...

That is BADROC'r Jessica Lazzlo (SP?) in her R16 powered SRL311. She recently completed the California Melee in the car...

Well, that California Melee looks like a blast. How do I find out about next year? Actually, another friend with a P1800 wants to go as well. Anybody else thought of doing it?

Always good to see Roadster photos. Even better when there are women in the pics!

Seriously, I think that it is great that she is driving the car in events like that. Gets more exposure for the marque. Now the plan should be for BADROC to overwhelm the event next year!!

Chicks who drive roadsters are cool! As for the Melee, I was going to do it this year, but I didn't trust the engine in my car. Now that it is very healthy (I went beyond the spedo last night, got scared at about 6300 rpm however and backed off. The spedo lies, it reads a bit on the high side, I was doing about 125 ish.) I'd be down for the next one. Gary Cohen did it this spring in his red 66 1600. Said it was a blast.

I was thinking of putting together a run like that but on a much smaller scale. I was thinking of perhaps 200 miles in a day. A roadster flog fest so to say. Geat roads, and almost large oil pan safe (because I have one of the lowest ones out there and I want to keep in in one piece.)

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Hey Alvin,

I like the Napa idea. I had relatives who lived there (now they're dead there). Also it's not too far from me. What about Eric - isn't he the guy who lives in Sacramento, the teacher, who went to Mike Young's place that one time? Let's at least get a mini-run together. I promise I'll take the Roadster. :D

Alvin, I too was unable to find any registration type info about that melee. I may have a lead though, a friend says he gets an invite every year and he thinks it's run by a guy named Harley Welch.

So, I'll be planning on hitting up this event next year. I think it would be great to get a roadster contingent for this.

As far as a run, I'm ready! Well, in a few days I'll be ready. For myself, the weekends of the 9th or the 16th work good at this point. As to where, I'm open to wherever. I'm pretty much central to most areas, and don't mind drivin' :D

The Melee is put on by Harley...

There is a Yahoo group set-up for the event.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/californiamelee/

However, the event just took place two weeks ago...You'll need to wait until next year.

When you consider that the hotel room for 3 days is included as are awards and T shirts, the price is not bad. Sounds like a hoot! Too bad it is over there on the left coast. Even if it were here though, I doubt that I could garner a 3 day kitchen pass from my wife...
