No responses to SCCA SoloII run tomorrow?

Post by ambradley »

I'm still going to try to make it to this tomorrow in my Datsun 411. It's in Stockton, a bit south of Sacramento. I just need to fix my valve cover gasket (leaking) and adjust my clutch and maybe tweak the timing, air/fuel and idle a bit... If anyone wants to meet there from the Bay Area, or drive together from Sacramento, let me know!

I wanted to bring the 411 to have something different, and I did... There was a 1967 Lotus Elan, a Fiat 124, both lowered, small diameter/wide tread tires, both pretty darn fast. No Datsun Roadsters though; one 510 (pretty ratty) and one 240z (VERY nice).

I kept the rubber side down, never spun out, never even hit a cone. Time improved by over four seconds between first run and last. I was a bit faster each time. Had a good time. :D

Unfortunately, swapping out my J13 for a J15 made me ineligible for stock class. I certainly wasn't the fastest car out there though there were some slower runs, including a 944 Turbo who apparently didn't want to risk getting the car dirty...

Sadly, I have no pictures, especially of myself in action. But I will do it again, maybe in the Roadster, and will bring the wife along, if only to take pictures.
