SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
See these 2 recent SCCA Fastracks:
http://www.scca.com/documents/Fastrack/ ... h-solo.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.scca.com/documents/Fastrack/ ... l-solo.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If they are considering moving the Z cars to CSP or DSP, they should, at the same time, be considering moving the roadster to DSP or FSP. In the Street Prepared category, the roadster has traditionally been one class lower than the Z car. We all need to voice our opinion now to the SEB. We have more strength in numbers.

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
And the BMW M Coupe and Roadster and Mazda RX8. Those cars in stock form make tons more HP and better handling characteristics than we could ever make a roadster in its best form with allowed street prepared mods. We're getting screwed so we have to voice our opinions to the SCCA SEB, because they will ignore us if we don't.

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
I just sent my input to the SCCA SEB stating that the roadster needs to be reclassed in SP especially if they make the proposed reclassifications.
For your reference, to compare horsepower ratings for the cars in stock form:
Nissan 370Z 350 HP
BMW M Coupe & Roadster 330 HP
Honda S2000 237 HP
Mazda RX8 232 HP
I hope you other guys in CSP will help too.
Thanks.

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
I received email acknowledgment today from the SEB that they have my input. Thanks NISSTECH for your commitment too. Is anyone else going to provide their input? We have to do this or we will get screwed. Trust me that input from several of us will weigh a lot more.

Im not an SCCA member. My car wouldn't be legal for CSP anyway, closer to EP I think, however way overweight.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
Thanks NISSTECH. I was about to repost to ask if anyone else has done it yet. Come on guys, we have to do this, or the SEB will screw us. A lot of us have invested a lot in preparing our cars for SP and getting your ass kicked by a car that is faster by design ain't fun. Driver skill won't be enough to overcome what they are about to do to us. I for one have just invested a ton of money, time, and effort into converting my SRL to EFI to make it faster just to try compete with Maitas and now look what the SEB is about to move to CSP. Insanity. Get on board and send a message to the SEB. Let us know here who's writing the SEB. Thanks.NISSTECH wrote:Just sent in letter for reclassing of Datsun roadster to DSP.Lets see what happens.

Thanks NISSTECH. How about anyone else? Get on the wagon train. We gotta do this thing or suffer the consequences. There's more strength in numbers.

Remember that you must be an SCCA member before they will even accept your letter.
Will, the Roadster was moved to DP a few years back, and the weight was moved up. Your car wouldn't be to heavy under the new weight calculation. I did the calcuations when we were fighting over it not being moved to GP with the other older sports cars. They moved it the year after Todd won the National Championship in EP with his car. Needless to say Todd and I weren't to happy.

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
Yesterday's Fastrack indicates the SEB is reconsidering moving all those fast cars from BSP to CSP. Instead, they're looking at moving the dominating EVO from BSP to ASP. But there's no mention of considering moving the Datsun roadster to DSP. Was it just NISSTECH and myself that wrote the SEB a letter? We're not getting their attention obviously.

Re: SCCA SEB considering reclassifying Z cars
SCCA's December Fastrak was released today and believe it or not, they've finally published a proposal to reclass the Street Prepared Datsun roadsters from CSP to DSP. If you agree with the proposal, it would be helpful to write the SEB.
