R16 Engine Timing

Post by Mr Camouflage »

Hey Guys, I need to tune up my R16 engine.

I found the timing marks on the pully, but i'm not sure what they align with on the block.

Some engines have a needle or such sticking out from the engine, but i cant see anything like that on the R16.

So what do I set the timing against? Where is the reference point?

Thanks,

Mr C.

There is a cast-in pointer in the timing cover. It's not huge but it's there. Somewhere around 2:00pm IIRC. This assumes you have an early engine. If it's a later engine, there's a metal pointer welded on.
