For you California people, don't forget the Targa California for 2010. This will be April 8-10 (I believe). It will be comprised of about 900 miles of great back roads driving. We'll be based in Paso Robles, so you do not have to do all 3 days if you don't want. No costs except your fuel/food and lodging if you stay overnight. They should be posting info on the site-you just need to google "Targa California".
Last year I was the only Datsun Roadster (out of appx. 120 pre 1975 cars). I think we can do better. It was the best run of the year-by far.
I know this is pretty close to the Solvang meet, but this is MUCH more of a driver's event. Luckily my wife lets me do both-and I spend the rest of the year paying.

Re: Targa California Coming is April
Ok, this year the Targa California is April 7-9. For the past 2 years I've driven my roadster-this year I will be taking my 240Z, which will allow for some increased performance, but I know I'll miss the vistas.
There is an entry fee this year (I have no affiliation with this event by the way). If you'd like additional information I have a flyer I can email you if you get me your address. I heard that so far there are 7 cars registered from the east coast that will be shipped out for the drive. This should provide some perspective on how fun this event is. It would certainly be nice to see some other Datsuns there-especially roadsters.

Todd,
I googled and found some odd info
$200 to register?
wasn't this a free event?
I don't get it
there's NASA insurance/sanctioning?
why?

Re: Targa California Coming is April
Must be something realted to organizers feeling they will be held responsible for the actions of the attendees.
(in our litigious (sp?) society, I am not surprised)
There are at least 2 other runs going on this year that I know of, one in March-3 day, one in October, 2-day, both SoCal based.
March is free (you pay for lodging). October is ~140, with 2 catered meals and the motel included.

You'd think they could just have everyone sign a waiver.

Re: Targa California Coming is April
Yeah the insurance was the issue. The organizer is a business, and even if everyone signed a waiver, if there was a problem he and the other sponsers could have liability-I could go into a diatribe about the California legal system...but I won't.
I was kind of bummed about the entrance fee as well. They are trying to help amortize it over a few meals and some other stuff. After doing this for the past 2 years (free at those times), its something that I feel is worth it-kind of like 3 days on the track except that you better not spin out-the fall is not so bad but the sudden stop at the bottom is brutal
Last year there were people that tagged along for portions of the day. They are public roads, after all.
