Spring Thaw Classic Car Adventure - British Columbia

Post by jfunkdelicious »

Anyone on here thinking about doing the classic car adventure this year? I hear the organizers have mapped out a new set of challenging and beautiful roads through British Columbia.

If I'm in town that weekend, I'm definitely going!

I'm registered for it, should be great!

Something to keep in mind if you are interested in attending is that 4 days after opening registration half the spots for the rally have already been filled! If you want to go you better get your cheque in the mail ASAP!

Well, the Spring Thaw rally is officially sold out now - it took 11 days to fill 50 spots (plus 10 people on the waiting list already)! Amazing buzz about this event in the local classic car community.

I am the only Japanese car attending, and one of only 2 non-european cars on the list. Should be a fun drive with so many beautiful and rare classics - I think I'll keep some distance between myself and the '52 Aston DB2 though, don't want to get into any fender benders with him.

I'm pissed that I missed this this year. No email or internet when I moved...........
I guess I'll just have to see you off this year, as you did last year BlackEddy.

there's 22 people on the waiting list.............Chances of getting on due to cancellation is pretty slim..................BUT, I may just add my name to the list, It was a blast last year!

I'll see you in Hope! and if I'm lucky, beyond Hope!

Yeah - I kept expecting to see your name pop up on the list sooner or later, Daryll. Too bad it didn't work out this time - "hope" I'll see ya at the start line.

Cheers.

Again, too damn early in the year to be driving a convertible across the continental divide to the start of the event.

If I could get a refund for this event if I had to pull out due to snow in the mountains (preventing a non-frostbite trip there) I'd register and try to go.

Oh well, when I move to BC I'll go to this event.

Too bad you couldn't make it Daryll - some really amazing cars turned out. Definitely try to make it next year, I'm already planning all the things I need to do to get ready for it. I'll try to put the word out to some of the other Datsun folks, some 510s and Zs would really add some flavor to the group.

The roadster ran great and represented Japan well, though there is some sort of minor fuel / ignition issue that I need to sort out. It would really bog out going uphill if I let the revs drop below 3K, needless to say I got lots of photos of cars passing me uphill. ;)

The run itself was an awesome experience - well organized, great group of fun loving folks and some of the best roads BC has to offer!
