Battery hold down for high windows

Post by Ratster »

I never see anyone offering the correct battery hold down for a late model car. What do they look like and where would you get one. The only one I've ever seen on Ebay is up 671/2.

thanks

Mark,

Actually, the ones advertised as being for up to 67.5 are incorrect - they are only for up to the 67 models. The 67.5 and later used the larger format battery. Those are a perimeter frame with locating loops for the hold downs. You see them occasionally, but not often. The 70 is the same, but has a shield on the front end of it (I cannot tell you why they put that on there). If I find a spare, I will let you know!

As an aside, the narrower battery gives you more room for tune ups and oil changes and such. Not a bad retrofit.

Thanks Mark. For a while there, we were sweating lead as the storm was projected to come right through Jacksonville. Charley heard that the big party was in Daytona though, so she went the southern route. The extent of storm damage to me is a limb about 2" in diameter came down in the front yard. Of course, that is small - I have lost more than that on calm days. The trees here are 150+ years old according to the tree surgeon that was out once...

Oh on the battery hold down, I only have the one for my car, and it is pretty crappy, so I am looking for a better one myself!

Stan Chernoff has made up and stocks a "Reproduction" of the 68-70 battery hold down. 50 something dollars.
