Hoosier 205/60/14 fit

I got a line on some used Hoosier street TD R compound tires that are 205 60's. I'm running 195/60's now and seem to have decent clearance. Anyone know if they will work?

69, the 195 Falkens I have now fit with a little clearance, my concern is the "square" top of the R compound tires, I'm thinking I will need to stick with 195's but want to know if 205's are possable

6-1/2" and I'm not sure of the offset, they came off of a Z car and fit up well with 195's

Well, w/o knowing offset it's hard to say if it will fit or not. Aside from buying and mounting them you can always get out the trusty old tape measure, and measure your clearence from the outside of your tire to the inside of your fender lip. Remember that lip can also be flattened slightly to gain more clearnce (Just becareful! If the is a lot of bondo in the fender, you don't want to flatten it!)

Measure the width of your current tire, and measure the width of your new hoosier. Take the amount the hoosier is wider by and divide it by 2. If this number is less than the number you got from measuring clearence it will fit. (Theoretically... haha)

But if you say you have decent clearence now with 195's they are only ~10mm wider, and only ~5mm closer to your inside edge on the fender...so I'd bet they would work.

You might as well give them a shot. I know of a 68 1600 that is running 205/60/14s on a set of 6 spoke Z wheels with no clearance issues at all. I couldn't clear a 195 on those wheels when I had them. You might get lucky and find they work, you might not. A better way to go is get a 2nd set of wheels that are just race wheels. I have a set of those very same tires waiting to go on my Hayashis, but I haven't gotten around to pulling my totally dead, corded, heat cycled out V710s off them yet. (What I really need to do is drop the $800 for a set of 225/50/14 V710s to go on my Panasports :twisted: :roll: )

The Street TDs are pretty cool. They have a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to them and they are warm, they work pretty well. Are yours used? If you can't get them to fit, I might be interested in them. I think I'm going to try autoXing on mine just to see how they do.

The tires are from a used race tire business, cost seems fair but they just have road race rubber no autocross rubber in 14". We would never get enough heat in them for autocross & we just run the track for fun once in a while. Here is the info:

Hoosier Street TDs are just fine for autoX. They aren't as fast as a normal R compound, but they are fun and work pretty well. I ran mine today and they were the best tire I have run this year (not saying much, but...) Very predictable. I have incar footage and will post it soon assuming the camera or computer doesn't eat it.

The Hoosier street TD's are a pretty "hard" compound tire, for a "race" tire. They are a bias ply tire and are very predictable and handle well.

But these hoosiers are not as fast as a current 205-50-15 race tire. I would safely say that my Toyo RA-1's are another 3 seconds a lap faster.

I run both tires, depending on the vintage racegroup requirements and it is possible to get both tires to work well on a roadster.
