Hi, this is 70MTRoadster.....
I sure hope this post gets through. See, our computer crashed and still is not completely up to speed....and I do not look forward to the hours of time necessary on the phone with the Qwest and/or the HP guys to get it sorted back out.
Anyways, I finally figured out the timing issue on my 1600 to 2L stroker project was 2 teeth off on the distributor timing and now have the beast running. In the 8 months that the car was down, I had forgoten that my own EI distributor installation was not totally square with the world and that is where the 2 teeth deal came into play. I am very happy so far. The engine has maybe 50 miles on it. I dialed in 15 degrees of advance with the timing light, left the 1600 SU's right where they were for the R16 engine and have just been driving it. It seems to have plenty of power over a wide powerband and pulls like mad from 3500 and up in 5th. I've been taking it fairly easy to get the engine broken in and then will dyno it as promised in an earlier post to let the list know what kind of power this hybrid is making. American Cam Regrinding did my R16 cam and I like its performance.
I set up an Excel list of monies spent on this engine and it comes to $1,800 with 2L clutch. I was too deep into the project to stop and do a KA or SR but will enjoy this combo.

Re:Stroker
I was wondering what had happened to you. Glad to hear you got it running. Are you still up for the write-up, with some pictures? Take care.

Stroker article
Steve.....Yes, very much up for the stroker article. Lots to tell and show. I am working in Missoula, MT and the wife is still here in Spokane. I come home every week or so. So when I get some time to sit down I will do the writeup/article.
TR, yes, was very tentative on the lst few miles on her, but now she is getting broken in and man what a thrill compared to the 1600. Well worth the effort and expense. Bitchin' idle lope (maybe due to the cam?) dunno, but cool nevertheless.
The plan is to take the Roadster over to Msla, then next time I go over take the 510. A 2 liter stroker and a 2 liter L20b make for many smiles.
