Center console lock

Post by SER240Z »

Does the center console have a seperate key for the lock? Or is it one of the door or ignition locks? My keys work in everything except the center console. Is it possible to get this re-keyed, or how would I get a key to work?

Thanks
Scott

They came keyed all alike. You should be able to get it rekeyed. I had mine done some time ago. One key should do it all including the gas cap but that is pretty rare these days.

Does anyone know where one might find the console lock? My key fits everything too, except the console lock, which is missing.

I maybe should've posted this in another section, but it seemed to fit with the topic.

Steve is correct regarding the early cars. The high windshield cars had two keys - the ignition was different if I recall correctly.

On the lock, I may have one in the garage. The problem is that I don't know when I will get out there to check on it. Figure out what all you need - just the lock, or the latch assembly.

I was wondering about that. My 1970 2000 has 2 keys. One for the ignition, one for everything else.

Thanks for setting that straight Sid. I am a low windshiled kind of guy all the way. And tend to be ignorant when it comes to the details of the high windshield cars. Never owned one long enough to figure it out.

I don't have the lock or the latch, just a sad hole where they should go.

Steve,

No sweat, glad to help when I can! I don't know that much about the Giraffe haulers, but am willing to share what I have figured out...
