I am installing a new shift boot on my 671/2 and am looking for sound advice.
How does one remove the shift lever or knob to slide the boot over.
And what type of glue is recommended to attach the rubber boot and vinyl cover to the metal part??

I can answer on the 67.5 boot. The early 67.5s used a trim plate that had 4 small screw holes. There was a companion plate below that the screws went into. The upper boot glues on with weatherstrip adhesive, the lower boot glues to that, and then the 4 screws hold the companion plate to the shift plate. The later 67.5 shift plates did not have the companion plate and 4 screws. They just all glued together with weatherstrip adhesive. Or, you could just get a 65 - 67 type boot and do away with the upper boot...
