3rd NY, NJ, CT Datsun Roadster Meet

Post by Vince V »

The 3rd NY, NJ, CT Datsun Roadster Meet will be held Saturday, May 16, from 12 noon to 6 pm. The event will be held at the Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Pleasantville, New York 10570. Link to the brewery website and directions; http://www.captainlawrencebrewing.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The event is open to all Datsun Roadsters, and is not limited to Roadsters from the Tri State area. There is an open invitation to all DRONE and MADROC members, in addition to anyone who would like to make the drive and attend.

Last years, under sunny skies, 8 Roadsters were in attendance along with 4 additional Roadster owners.

The Captain Lawrence Brewery is owned by my son and May 16 is the 3rd anniversary of the Brewery opening. There will a barbeque ( 3 pig roast ) , live music through out the day and of course " beer " . ( there will be a small charge for the barbeque ). If you take some time in the web site you will note that the brewery has now won 2 Gold and 1 Bronze medal at the " Great American Beer Festival " and was recently rate # 5 of 50 top American microbreweries . Just a plug by a proud father.

Hotels:

You will note, there is nothing really inexpensive in Westchester.
In the immediate area ( 5 to 10min ) drive from Pleasantville are the towns of " Hawthorne, Rye, Rye Brook, Armonk ,Mt Kisco, Tarrytown and Elmsford " which are all very nice areas and should be safe to park the car. A note about some of the Tarrytown and Elmsford hotels. Some of these hotels are fairly large, catering to the business traveller on the 287/87 corridor and have big parking lots.

I would avoid "White Plains, New Rochelle, and Yonkers" as these are larger cities and the hotels are generally downtown.

I am aware that this is the same weekend as the Carlisle PA event, so for those going to Carlisle, have fun and see you in 2010. :smt006

Whew - thats a relief. Paul Egan and I were just wondering yesterday whether this was on or not for 2009.

Maybe I'll be able to convince him to bring his car. He STILL hasn't broken it in for long distance trips.

I'm in for the show, wouldn't miss it. Rain shine or snow. Linda is making faces when I mention Carlisle. If we do go out there, it will be after Vince's, and maybe drop the Roadster at home. Much depends on the weather for a 4 hour extra ride to Carlisle.

As a brewer (extract and whole grain), beer consumer (especially big fan of belgians), and proud owner of a 69 1600, I will definitely be there. I'm not sure yet if my roadster will make the journey. Congrats on your success with the brewery.... I had a chance to sample some of the brews at Watkins and I was very impressed!

See you in May!

Not to worry! I deleted the AAA number from my cell and put Dave's number in there. I need to replace a few things and my mechanic is great, but a little pricey. So, I'll figure out the repairs I need to make and bring the parts with me. Then when I "break down" on the way, I can call Dave's roadside repair service:) But shhhhh... don't tell Dave about my secret plan!

All joking aside, I'll probably just cruise down in my boring old Toyota. If I get my act together, I'll even try to pawn off some new and used parts and circulate some kind of updated list to y'all.

I'm getting psyched!

Hey Nathan, Bring me down your best center console...that's the arm rest one for a late model roadster (they are the longer version console).

Sounds good. I'll PM you a picture as well, to confirm it meets your needs. Please PM me to remind me as it gets closer, if you don't hear from me...
