Norcal (and above) Roadsters heading to Solvang Friday

Post by datsunrides »

Since the other topic got "invaded" by the southerners  , I figured I'd start this thread to see if we can get a group together heading down south since it's only a few days away. Who is planning to go down Friday and at what timeframe? I know everyone has their own agenda but it would be sweet having a bunch of Roadsters cruising down the 101. I am planning on leaving the Gilroy area around 10 ish but can adjust a bit if needed for a group. Post up what time your going as there may be a few groups based on the departure time (early/late).

Weather.com is forecasting showers in Solvang on Sat, 30% chance. Dang. I think I'm going to try and leave early and see if I can catch you Mark. It takes me about 2 hrs to get to Salinas. I'll need to stop for fuel there. I'm not at all looking forward to driving anyplace with the top on. I'll do my best to be out of here at 8 am. Where would be a good place to meet? 3 years ago we all met at the Coyote creek golf course, but that is north of Gilroy by a long way.

Don't worry if you don't want to leave so early. I have a little flexability in the time I would like to leave. I will most likely be running top up rain or shine unless I can convince the wife otherwise. She didn't like my "oh, just wear a cap" comment. May have to keep the heater on and tell her it's broken  . She thinks it's a piece of junk anyways :( . Lets see if others will chime in. If you can congregate a group @ coyote, I can probably time when you will be rolling by San Juan Bautista (hwy 156) and join there or at your refueling stop in Salinas. I am actually hoping it stays somewhat cool as I'm not 100% comfortable with my cooling system yet. That turbo traps a lot of heat under the hood!

I hope to leave Fremont between 3-4pm unless work interferes.......which it usually does.

Still up in the air about going, work, wife, weather...

I'll keep in touch. It would be good to travel in a pack.

Finally got the top on so I'm running out of excuses not to go. I didn't book a hotel and didn't register for the show. I'm working on the hotel now. That will be the decision maker. We might just go for the one night and be spectators at the show and head out Saturday afternoon.

If you drive the car down, you might as well put it in the show. I didn't reg either as I wasn't sure the car would be good to go by then. I've been dealing with cosmetic things all week and haven't touched/checked mechanical stuff yet. Thats at the top of the list for tonight. I better get on it.

Just spoke to Will and I will be meeting him in Salinas about 10:20 am tomorow. Location is the Chevron station on N. Davis road just off the Laurel road exit from S 101. Anyone who wishes to join in on the ride in is welcome to meet up there or get ahold of Will if you want to hook up before then. Alvin, what time were you thinking of rolling out Sunday? I would like to head out about 9 ish. As for the roll ons, I'm game, just don't expect ground pounding action. I am only running 5psi right now (only have a little over 200 miles on the engine) and am still trying to get the fuel rich enough under boost. Still kinda lean under boost, which limits how long I'm willing to stay in the gas, but I hope to have that sorted by the time I get to Solvang.

Mark depending on sunday plans we might leave as early as 6-7am...I'll know by tomorrow.
I just want some good youtube footage so folks can get an idea of the sight/sound/acceleration.
5psi, then whatever your "high" boost setting is should be good!

FYI on NorCal owners heading to Solvang

I'm leaving Fremont in about 2 hours as a one Roadster caravan. PM me your cell# and I will check this board before I take off.

I'm registered for Solvang but w/o any hotel reservation. I'm sure I'll find something. Will be leaving Solvang on Sat. afternoon back for the Bay Area.
