KA24DE questions QUICK

Post by CWhip »

Well I'm meeting up with a guy tomorrow to take a look at his 95 KA. Claims to only have 90k on the motor. I'm looking at the motor, tranny, ecu, and wiring harness. Anything in particular you guys think I need to be aware of? Anything to really look at? I won't be able to see or hear it run but he's got tools for me to take the valve cover off and take a look. He says he turns it over with the crank. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Make sure you get the matching mass air flow sensor..Other years and models will plug in but the car will not run properly with out it.Make sure the spedo sensor on the tranny is also there.

Ok so I bought it. Now what? I'll be going over the motor in the next few days. Looks pretty good. Turns over nice with the pulley. Mass air flow is there. There are sensors on the tranny but I don't have a manual yet to know which are which. I'm pretty stoked, been going back and forth in my mind on whether I really wanted to swap or not. I just couldn't pass on this deal though. Any words of encouragement would be great. I've been going through the archives and have gotten some good info. What was the major headache most of you that have done the swap have had? I'd like to see as many pics as you guys can send me. I've seen quite a few but more is always better. Anyway, I'm sure I'll have some questions for you guys in the next few..... so thanks in advance! :smt001

Go for it. The power and ease of operation out way the hassle of the install.
Don't worry about all the extra stuff that comes with engine....Just strip it down to the basics...no power steering or ac needed. Also get a lighter flywheel it makes the biggest impact on the car.
The basic power trim of the Ka24de comes very undertuned. The nissan guy who was on the team that put the KA24de in the North American cars told me they were testing the prototype engines with a more aggressive state of tune and had to detune the cars to meet the warranty issues. Now turners are getting some extra power from the engine with out turbos.PDM racing has had a few of their customers cars on the dyno.
177hp to the rear wheels is very sweet. Not bad for a chip, cold air intake and header.
