Seriously, folks...
What I found on my 67.5 was a rubber bushing on the steering shaft, and it was up closer to the steering wheel than to the firewall, but that was all. Other stuff maybe removed by a PO? I also noticed that the collar that guides the shaft through the firewall is off just far enough to rub on the steering shaft. I might try shimming the collar to see if I can get a straighter shot at the steering box.
Try using a stethoscope of a piece of vacuum line to see if you can get closer on where the squeak is coming from. Quite often that leads to just where the problem is, and therefore a resolution.
I hope this helps, if just a little.
