Rear end swap

Post by scotty »

If I wanted to lower my rpm on the freeway, and was going to swap the rear end to achieve this, what ratio would I want and from which year car? I have a stock 67 1600- 4 speed.

Thank you all.

You should have a 3.90 in that car. Any of the 2000's had a 3.70 stock. I'd consider doing the 5 speed swap instead of the rear end swap if you want more relaxed hiway cruising.

Thanks. I'll probably wait 'till the engine has to come out to think about swaping the tranny. I do have to put new springs on the rear so, I thought I'd try and do the rear end first.
