My quest for a roadster is complete!

I've been looking for almost 6 years for the perfect roadster project, finally had the cash when a roadster came my way shes a tired looking, but picked her up for 400 dollars. Shes a 1968 1600.. I probably should have paid less but I don't feel like I got a bad deal so I'm happy.


I had a hard choice between the roadster and a 240Z, I took the roadster because well I love the roadster more.


Everyone I know is screaming to put a v8 in it, I think I'll lay off the big motors and just keep the stock 1600 for now and swap to a KA24 and run megasquirt when I can afford to set it all up.

You definitely have a project on your hands but with persistence and some dollars you will have a runner some day. Are most of the bits there or are you missing items-such as the head light scoops and bumpers. Any how-good luck with the project and keep us posted on the progress. We are here to give you a cheering section to get through your project. And it does not hurt to ask folks if they might have a spare this or that lying around. And of course there are the vendors and EvilBay. Welcome!!

If all you want is a dragster, then by all means put a huge, heavy motor in. But these cars were designed to handle well, and by keeping the engine weight similar to what was stock (~350 lbs), you won't change the weight as much. Besides, too much HP in a light car (2000 lbs) results in more trips to the tire store than would otherwise be necessary.

Have fun, and by all means ask any questions you want to. We're a pretty friendly bunch here (except for me, I'm a grumpy old f*rt).

Well the lights are there, but I'm going through right now making a list of whats needed, but mostly whats needed is to replace parts that have not aged as fine as the rest of the car..

Its got a monstrously stiff clutch, lol the cylinder has frozen up and same with the brakes and I think the only parts missing are the seats, the front left brake caliper setup, radiator, alternator, shifter and the center console besides the front section with the radio still in together and working.


I will say those photos make it a lot worse then it looks, the front does need probably some bodywork or just replaced but I can say the only major holes on the body are in the floor pan on the passenger side so body work isn't too bad on the car. Going to try to strip the car down a little to get to all the hard to reach spots and kill rust.


Also the motor has good compression, I just need to find a vacuum diagram if there is one for this motor.

If the thermal modulator is in good shape and being used, there are two vacuum hoses. That piece is not a bad thing to keep...

The fuel return valve is a nice keeper as well. Lots of Roadsters run with out em. Welcome to help.

I'm looking for a good clutch slave cylinder at the moment?
