So it looks like I scored a set of wheels for a deal I couldn't pass up. I think I can be labeled as a wheel junky. I now have 1 set of Hayashi street 2s, a set of American racing Libras, a set of Panasport Ultra lites in a 14x7 that should clear a 205 nicely, and another set of Panasports on the Alfa. Its been an expensive month, but the deal on the Panasports was far too good to let slide. I had to break into the roadster paint fund, but... They have a little curb rash, but are straight, and the offset looks good. I can clean them up and repaint them if need be.
The disaster with the Alfa has turned into the biggest can of worms and or gremlin attack ever. I got the head back, all new guides, seals and springs (seats were good) 4 new sodium filled exhaust valves, and 8.5 hours of work, $1100. Ouch. Then the fun began when I put it all back together. I had plug wires go bad sitting in a box on the seat, and fuel injection issues that made no sense what so ever. Internal stuff in the injection pump was so out of whack that there was no way it was like that when I took everything apart. I didn't touch any of it, and the correct fixes had no effect. However doing other things that shouldn't do really anything have fixed issues, and still other issues have flat out come and gone on their own. I won't get into details due to the extreme complicated nature (you need to see what I'm talking about and know the creature before it would make any sense.) of the issues, but they have been pretty random. I'll take a set of Mikuni 44pHHs over this setup any day of the week.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Re: Need a set of race wheels.
I'm going to try and stuff a 205/55/14 under the rear fenders, most likely Kumho V710s again. I got a lot of miles out of the ones I have on the Hayashi's. Before I buy a set I'm going to go sift through the pile of race tires out at the track and find a 205 to check. I think I might put a set of track tires on the hayashi's and the Libres will stay street wheels. I can't remember what the offset was, they came off a stock 1600 and had 205s on them before. I might go find the 8lb motivator and massage the outter fenders a little more if I think I can get a 215 under there with the wheels. I kinda doubt it. Apparently these just rubbed lightly on non rolled fenders, so I should have clearance. I'll post and update when they get here.

Re: Need a set of race wheels.
you should take a jack and place it between the rear quarter and inner fender from inside the trunk = slightly flared fenders

Got the wheels this afternoon. 14X7, 4 1/8 backspacing. The hayashis look the same, but the offset is different. These wheels have some lip however, they should look pretty sweet.

Re: Need a set of race wheels.
I was out at the track this morning and found a 225/50/14 to try. The price was right (free) and the mounting was also free. I'll try to get a test fit in, and if they work, I'll try and run out to grab the other 3 that are most likely used up but are in far better shape than my V710s that are totally heat cycled out and corded. I still doubt these will fit, but perhaps I will get lucky. If its really close, my friend Louisville Slugger and I will go to work rolling some fenders. I went to town with the Libres on and got a little more room, if I put the Hayashi's on I can roll some more out. Maybe, just maybe I'll get lucky.
If only I had 15" wheels, I'd have free tires for days. The Spec Miata guys run them for a bit then throw them out. There are piles of them.

Re: Need a set of race wheels.
With a large amount of baseball bat abuse, all I have to say is YEAH! 225/50/14s pumped up to lots of psi (don't really know, started with 30 or so, and added.) rub just a little. At proper inflation pressure should be fine. Now to find another 3 in good shape for free...
