Some photos of Duryea hillclimb

Post by timurf »

There's some great photos of this event taken by Nial McCabe on the following link. My '68 2000 is shown about halfway down the page.

By the way we could use some more Datsuns in PHA, I am the only one 'representin' at these events! Hint hint...

Quite a Mix of cars there !

Looks like an interesting piece of road.

Check the lines others took, for right or wrong.

How fast are you leaning into it here ?

Lets see - I think that is considered turn 6 which I am approaching, still leaning from turn 5.

Turns 1 through 4 are switchback hairpins and 5 starts to open up, turn 6 is a moderate kink before it opens up to a straight and then a sweeping left hander at 7 (also called oh shi_ corner.) The whole course is about 2.2 miles.

I am probably doing about 45-50mph or so? I am near flat past the 5 apex, then feathering the throttle to negotiate 6.

The variety of cars makes the event that much more fun, PHA is a good group. Lots of different lines taken too. I try to be smooth but since you are going uphill nearly constantly, the 'preserve momentum' racing line doesn't usually pan out.

Either that or Dave had to make a 'pitstop' REAL bad - he is heading towards the port-a-Johns...
