Re: Shoot some video !!
The fictional part of the movie was mostly cut due to the 10min Youtube limit. The entire 22 minute video also had My brother and I golfing and discussing acquiring a Roadster for him. Also some dialogue from "infamous" members of this board and the Roadster community. The prices asked were pretty legit, good cars cost.. although a couple were asked to inflate for the sake of the story (cut 'em.)
Maybe I'll make another video next year at Solvang. I'm gonna try and shoot something on the run to Coronado. Maybe another bumper mount?

Re: Shoot some video !!
Agreed Paul,
Although in Southern California we do have a few more of those cars running around. To add interesting twist to the conversation. Imagine two 67.5 2000 race cars that used to race against each other back in the day, together again on the streets of Solvang, that is what is shown in that video. #61 is serial number 004 and mine is serial number 305. With only 1000 67.5 2000's and only a fraction of those race cars, and only a fraction of those cars still around....it's like winning the lottery.
We vintage raced together once, and only once. It was 3+ years ago. Bob brought his car out to an HSR event, it was the last time he raced it before he put it up for sale. I have a great memory of Bob coming up behind me, I could see him in my rear view mirror, so you can imagine looking in the mirror of your roadster and seeing another racing roadster. Too Cool!
Bob's car as I mentioned has sold, and has been shipped to Australia.

Re: Shoot some video !!
I've taken tons of roadster/Datsun video clips over the years from fun runs, track days, car shows etc.
I'm still uploading but I have about 80 clips on YouTube here:

Re: Shoot some video !!
Hi Alvin, yes, as mentioned, I had found quite a few videos featuring racing Roadsters and track shots. I had seen some of yours -- like that V8 Roadster burnout YO !
This street video you just posted of Solvang 2005 is the sort of thing I hope to see more of.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And this other new street video from you too -- how did you manage to resist mashing it when all these Roadsters passed you? Big kick there.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-------
Did you notice YouTube now has two levels of video quality? Your Solvang looks great in HIGH, and wow, in the years that have passed I guess memory card capacity has really improved. I had a Sony from that era that would shoot only in 30 second video bursts.
Those of us who also shoot video to tape may someday switch over ....

Re: Shoot some video !!
I did notice that YouTube started accepting high quality clips...but I think they only apply to ones that are recent?
I take most of the video clips by myself, ie one hand for the camera and one hand for the gear shift/steering...mashing the gas takes skill
Here's the only time I've mashed the gas while filming:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I shot with my left hand and shifted/steered with the right...and won!!!
I'll upload more show/run vids soon

its a good display of how much of a handful it is with the tires worn out. I was pretty frustrated with my driving in this one.
Yes Alvin, it needs to be tamed. It was in "I'm going to eat you" mode for this event. It was much more tame at the last event (last weekend) however. I didn't take the camera because I figured it was just going to be more of the same mess. It wasn't, oh well.

Re: Shoot some video !!
Hi Will, I was surprised how quick your roadster would spin on you. Seemed like the threshold would come up very quickly.
Like you said, your state of mind was the determining factor.
Sometimes slower is faster

Re: Shoot some video !!
Ron,
Yes in this case slower was far faster. The course was much more open for this months event, so I wasn't trying to fight the thing through lots of tight corners, just some long sweepers and a few slaloms. I'll bring the camera along for the Oct 5 event, looks like I will be rolling the dice with my one corded tire that still holds air. The tires are harder (treadwear of 30) than the Hankooks (treadwear of 200) that I just bought for the Alfa, but not as hard as the Falkens (also treadwear of 200) that I use as street tires for the roadster.
The good news is that after the last event, I'm firmly in 3rd in class, and it looks like 6th in the overall points for the season (not absolutly positive, but I thought I only counted 5 people with more points than me)
