I'm Bitten

Post by waggleboy »

I met this girl who had 3 Datsuns. Two 68s 1600s and a 64 1500. I refused to even think about the possibilities. I mean, who the hell would want to spend all that time to get em up and running.
She asked if she might park one at my place for a bit. Sure, it wasn't running but she had it towed over. After sitting for almost a year I started thinking about it.
Well, long story but we took two fairladys and made one. I should say we are still trying to make one. Got one on the road and i'm hooked. She drives so nice.
Latest prob is a crappy fuel tank but we'll figure that out as well.

I'll send some pics and any encouragement is welcome.

Do i really want to do this? I'm becoming obsessed.

Usually the relationship with the car endures past the girl. Sam

That would be Robin. I'm Jay.
Got a plugged fuel system in the white one. We're going back to Guy's for some more parts off the green one soon.

The brown one a 1500 is still under cover. haven't really looked at it yet.

1) I'll send some pics and any encouragement is welcome.
2) Do i really want to do this?
3) I'm becoming obsessed.
If truth be told, and I presume that IS what you want ..... the answers to your questions are (not in order):
3) That sentence's composition is off; the word "becoming" needs to be deleted.*
2) Do you really and honestly believe you have a choice?**
1) Excellent note on the pictures. That's always a positive sign.***

* Since you've already combined two cars into one, it's obvious you've been bitten and bitten hard. I recommend some heavy reading and relaxation reading the contents of this site. Not only the older threads, but specifically the tech section and the wikipedia inserts. There's a bunch more knowledge amongst all the members here so be sure to post back with questions.

** Subject is exhibiting delusions of willpower. Obviously has not finished painting the car or driven it around the block.... or even better, driven it on a nice sunny day. Once these events are accomplished, realization and acceptance will set in.
Recommendation: Prescribe additional hours of driving or if yet inoperable, copious hours of work on the car to complete it and then fill prescription as needed.

*** Pictures are like showing off your (Fill in the Blank), and kind of a basic requirement for fulfilling this condition. This is also a good move to avoid copious requests by other owners. This is a very positive sign that you are progressing with a healthy prognosis in the future. Recommend you post updates to both keep yourself motivated and the rest of us as part of your support team.

Welcome!

I didn't figure that there were too many women with two 1600s and a 1500 around! Tell Robin I said Hello! (Sid Raper) I am glad to hear that you are helping her get things in order. I know that she loves the Roadsters but was having problems. I have not heard from her in a while.

Would Robin = Robin Krause? I thought Tana had mentioned going over (with Phil?) to try and get one running, but not sure when that was. Glad to hear one up 'n' about.

One and the same. The white one is up, kind of, the 1500 is in planning stage as well.

We went down to Guy's place a few weeks ago and did a engine swap on the white 68/1600. At the moment we have a fuel supply problem but she's a cruiser for sure.

You can reach me at waggleb@yahoo.com.

When is the next meeting?

Well......Got the crap tank drained and hope to have the clean tank from the green one this week.

Thought i would run new tube and hose up the drivers side since i bought one of the Posi-Flow electric pumps.

I want it back on the road bad. Even a crapy drive is better than none.

Guy is amazing. They've had two runs/BBQ's to his place. I've only seen pics.

Yeah, I have to get my gas tanks (914, 411, and roadster) drained and cleaned. Havlik Radiator in Totem Lake area will do 'em. You may be closer to Precision Radiator in the Tacoma area.

NWDE meetings are the third Friday of every month, so that would be this Friday, 9/19.

Went to the local NW datsun meeting last night. Seattle area, it was fun.

Made the trip down south to Guy's place and stripped the green 68 roadster. The white 68 is smiling and waiting for parts.

With no garage and the rain, bummer, tring to figure how best to proceed. Got the new fuel tank but it needs cleanup and paint. Inside of tank is clean. More than likely I'll run new fuel lines as well.

Sure miss driving her tho. She is looking a bit better now.

Threw in the Avgas and she runs like a dream. Almost to rich i think. Going to adjust valves and recheck my carbs this weekend. But......I'm driving the Fairlady tonite.

OK.....I'll get some pics this weekend.
