Michael,

Your build is beautiful. The "shaved" engine bay is really trick.

May I ask, where did you get those great headlights from?

Thanks,

Jesse.

The headlights are from a Mercedes G500 and are made by ZKW in Austria. My research found articles describing that ZKW redesigned the 7" round headlight for the first time in 30-years! Output is said to be 30% more than a standard H4 headlight, and frankly I believe it!

They have a built-in parking light (which fully illuminates the headlight), a glass lens, and the output is very impressive. I am extremely pleased with them.

Dare one ask what the damages are on those puppies as I doubt there are many G500's in junkyards.

Well, depends on how you define "expensive". $360.00 a pair, not cheap, not insane. Less than most AKC puppies, and you get a pair.

Find a dark parking lot at a snooty resturant. Bring a cordless screwdriver. If you want to be nice, duct tape a pair of 6014 sealed beams inthe holes so Benz-Boy can get home.

I was looking at the Jeep Liberty lamps...have potential.

Its been awhile since I have worked on my own car-- it seems that everyone's project is the next thing in line-- well, this winter in-between projects, we have been busy, and here is a sneak peek at some of the updates:

RX-7 rear axle-- after building a bunch of these, it was finally time to get mine done and in the car. This has been narrowed an extra 3/8" more than we usually narrow them so we can fit some larger rear wheels under the stock sheet metal. It also has a Miata Torsen limited slip center section in it along with a 3.9:1 gear set. Since I had to have an e-brake, rebuilt stock calipers and new rotors went onto the car. Here is a quick shot before it went under the car:

Image

The rear springs have been lowered, and a new set of Dean's super-low springs are going int the front to get the stance right...

The car is getting new shoes too, a set of Watanabe RS-8s, 16x7 in the front, and 16x7.5 in the rear. We have used these same wheels on Eric Straw and James Standridge's awesome SR20DET cars, and I just had to have a set too...

Image

I am looking forward to getting the car together for the long drive to Solvang-- it will be good to stretch it's legs after sitting all winter!

More soon,

Michael

Looks like Micheal beat me again.

I got some 200SX calipers and it looks like if they are "clocked" properly I can cut off the stop for the brake cable and hook up the factory e-brake rods to actuate the e-brake.

Wowsers. Beautiful back axel. I'm excited to see this one in person at Solvang.
Dreaming of the day when I can drive my '69 Roadster with a SR20DET motor purring beneath the body. :)
