1970 L521 - Pick Up

Post by Fairlady66 »

Now that the Roadster is getting painted my wife figured I needed another project car. So I just got a 1970 521 Pick Up, this one is for her. It is in pretty good shape I just need to do some body and interior work.
What I will be needing is a grill. Any knowledge of picking up a few parts for this would be appreciated.

Trim parts will be tough to find outside of The usual (ebay, craigslist, etc.) For mechanical parts, you will be amazed what Rock Auto (http://www.rockauto.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) has in stock.

I remember when no one wanted the 1500s......

Well mechanically it is pretty sound. I figured the trim pieces would be difficult to find. The only thing it will really need is a grill; I have most of everything else.

This guy is in the Socal/OC/North San Diego area, and has 521 parts, including a grille:

Welcome to the old truck world. Grilles do turn up on occasion, just keep looking in the usual places. Does it have an L16, or J13 in? RockAuto, as mentioned has a lot of stuff for these old guys.

I was just curious if anyone here has ever seen a roadster converted to a pickup-like an El Camino. Not like I have the time, but it would be cool to find a roadster with a bashed in rear and convert the trunk+deck behind the seats to a mini truck bed.
