New 2000 owner in CT

Post by TEK »

Hi,

I just picked up a '69 2000 and love it. I'm a British car guy by trade and had never had a chance to drive a Datsun roadster before this one. I'm impressed!

No pics yet, I'll get to it soon.

It's almost a 40 year old virgin. Looks like it's just had routine maintenance it's whole life. Never been restored except for a recent top. Came with a porthole window hardtop too. Runs great, drives great, drove it 90 miles home with only one stop due to the points closing down. Was back underway within minutes.

What part of CT are you in? Where did you find your car? I'm always fascinated with that part

Hmmm.... You're from Long Island, I think you know the car and should have bought it when you saw it.

Actually I'm not sure what your referring too.

I love mine, and if and only if I had a 4 car garage would I be tempted to get another

Ooops, I guess you're not the guy from LI that looked at the car but didn't leave a deposit.

I found it in NYS, just west and north of Danbury CT. The seller said someone from LI had looked at the car and wanted it but couldn't arrange a trailer/flatbed to get it home. I drove it home and I'm sure it would have easily made it to LI so whoever it was should've just made the deal and driven it back without worrying about a trailer. It's a solid car with some rust in the usual places but no previous bodywork so what you see is what you get.

All jokes aside about British sports cars, there's nothing like the feeling of getting into a 40-year old Datsun and just driving 90 miles home. What a great way to start your "relationship."

If it's any easier than snapshots, do us a walkaround video on your JPEG camera and just throw it up on YouTube.

Yes, I was planning on keeping it but things have changed.

I read your post in the classifieds thread. Why would you have a problem with me selling it so soon after I bought it? I went to see it and made an impulse buy, one that turned out to be a wise one but still that's what it was. I didn't register it in my name because I'd be giving the State of CT $300 for the privilege of having my name on the papers when I sell it. If I can't keep it there's no reason to do that.
