Newbie from Washington state

Post by Jess »

Good morning from Washington state.
I just found and purchased the love of my life (fortunately my husband is not the jealous type), 1969/2000. I look forward to meeting, talking and sharing information with all of you.
Have a great day
Jessie

Welcome, Jessie...

Looks like you found a pretty nice one. Is that the car that was for sale in the Bellingham area? It sounded like the PO had put quite a bit of time into it.

Thank you for the "welcomings".

And yes, this is the car that was in the Bellingham area, good guess. The PO was a local young man and just got burned out on tinkering with her and now it my turn to jump in and take over. The body work was very roughly done so unfortunately I will be re-doing it. He gave it a good effort but not to my liking. My first drive with it, to my surprise had a 4spd trans, after a couple days of driving her the trans developed a bad noise. So, lucky me, I own and operate an automotive repair shop in Bellingham. We removed the trans and found fifth gear completely siezed up. Yea...its a 5spd. The PO also had a spare and wasnt sure if it was a 4 or 5 spd, so we opened that one up as well, again its a five speed...how lucky? So at this point in time the engine and trans are going through complete rebuilds. The body work will be done this winter and hope to have her back up and rolling down the road by next summer.
I do have a few spare parts and once Ive completed the needs list on my end Ill be happy to post what I will have remaining as well as looking for a couple of items as well.

Welcome :smt006
I've looked at that one several times on CL. I was almost ready to trade my Harley for it. I've got a fixer as well but at least she runs. Always looking for extra parts. This board is a wealth of information, has been for me anyway. Good luck with your ride.

Are you going to keep the slate color of the car?
