Seattle area Roadster newbie (kind of, anyway)

Post by 67_1600 »

Well, I've had my '67 for almost 2 years and stumbled upon this site not too long ago looking for something or other. I've asked a few questions (and received some very good information), so I figure maybe it's time I give a more formal introduction...

I always loved the Roadsters and when the wife agreed to me purchasing a new 'toy' it didn't take long for me to find a nice project (the one on the left in the pic). It's a '67 but I stole the grille from the '69 2000 parked next to mine. I bought the second one mainly for the engine and tranny but did find a use for a couple of things off of it. Other than that, I've been selling a few things here and there from it and will probably be unloading what's left pretty soon to help pay for freshening the U20 up a bit.

I live a bit north of Seattle and get nice comments everywhere I go. I've seen a couple of other Roadsters around but haven't yet met any others in the area.

Anyway, thanks for the help I've gotten so far and I look forward to getting to know other members better down the road.

Tim

Nice looking 67' really like the fog lights. My 67' is just now up and running still need lot of better parts. Do you know if the driver side mirror is the same on your parts car as a 67.5? I'll have to watch e-bay for a good used one . Keep it on the road Leon in Boise

Thanks, Leon...

My car had those bullet-style mirrors which I never really liked and I took them off and put the one from the '69 on my car. It's not the correct mirror either, but I like the look better than the other ones.

I'm Lake Forest Park, someone (Jesse?) is in Edmonds, and Gary is in Mill Creek. Jon is in Bothell, but he's not on the forums and haven't seen him on the mailing list in a year or two.

Few of us have running roadsters nor have met the others.

I'm down in the south end and would like to check out some other roadsters. Hopefully mine will be back on the road soon and we can get together.

i dont think those are the ones that came with the 67.5, mine are stock and its a black bullet shaped with round mirror center.

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but better late than never right?! Nice looking roadster! Something tells me that I've seen you driving downtown Edmonds before - could that be you? At any rate, Just like Pete said one of these days we should all meet. I have a '67 1600 that I use almost as a daily driver in the Summer time. Here's a couple pics that I took the other day... don't ask about the passenger mirror.. that's another story entirely! lol

Anyway, hope to see you around! Nice ride!

Jesse

Hey Jesse,

Great looking car...

That probably was me you saw in downtown Edmonds - I like to go down there on nice days now and then.

I think it would be fun to get together with other local owners at some point. I've seen a couple of other cars driving around the area but haven't met anyone yet. I'm sure I could use a brain or two to pick as well :)

Anyway, thanks for saying hi and if anyone has an idea of a time or place we could get together, just let me know.

Tim,

The NW Datsun Club meets every month on the 3rd Friday at Roundtable in Kirkland. I've only been to one meeting but it was pretty cool. Let me know and I'll get you the info.

Hi Tim. Welcome!
I'm a newbie myself. Only had my '66 1600 and '64 "kit car" since March. I live just up the road from Gary in the Martha Lake area. We know another guy just a couple of miles away to the north who has owned his roadster for 30(!) years.
Good looking cars. Hope mine is as pretty one day!

Roadsters did not come stock with bullet mirrors. The stock mirrors were like this:
