Pictures of Stuart's Potential Purchase 1964
Stuart one of our Aussie friends sent me some pictures of the 64 he is contemplating purchasing out of Japan. Pretty sweet looking car with an H20 powerplant.

I don't know the price, but that is not really germaine as the car and the potential buyer are a world away. That is a neat car! The chrome valve cover suggests that it may have been a single carb car. I really like it in silver. The neatest thing to me is the license plate. I want that tag for my 64!!

Hi everyone,
Well to the details I have about the car so far are...
As Steve said it has had a H20 transplant.
The front brakes are disks.
I know the chassis number. I have see (in Japanese) mechanic's report and registration details (which I am going to try and get translated), but as for the actual restoration, no real details at all.
It is a very neat looking car and I am checking the import laws here at the moment and have sent of the paperwork to request it's import to Australia. Shouldn't be a problem as it is over 30-years old and apparently that makes all the difference.
I of course, have some doubts not knowing much about its history or the restoration, but hey, it can't be that bad can it?
If anyone can think of questions I should be asking the seller, please post them because I would love to know. I being quite new to roadsters.

This car looks like a really nice, fun car.
I own a 67.5 2000 with a H20, and I will tell you...the drivability with the H20 (vs the G engine) is just great!. Plus, in Australia H20 parts should still be available.
I like how the valve cover is chromed...In my 67.5 the valve cover is painted blue (ugly).
Also..the color combo (silver & red) is great. I also own a fully restored 66 1600 that is modelled after a 63 SPL310 JDM silver/red roadster.

All in all...if the price is right...I'd jump on it.

Sadly have to report I didn't purchase it at this time
By the time I would have had it landed into Australia it would have been about the equivalent of US$12,000. Not too bad really, but I could not get enough details on the history of the restoration that had been done. Though I did get it's Registration report which had a lot of "ticks" but it was all in Japanese.
The other factor that swayed me (probably more-so than the above) was my girlfriend... we are about to buy a house together and while she was happy to indulge me with one Roadster, she drew the line at another one
Never mind though, maybe in 12-months time there will be another opportunity. The guys that I was talking to also had a 1968-2000, they wanted a lot more for it, something like YEN2,000,000 (US$15K before shipping), I didn't get as many photos of that, but it looked like a good restoration too.
Anyhow, that's the sorry tale.... for now
