The weather gods smiled at last. It was clear and warm enough to get heat into the tires. The course was a fast flowing type, just what I like. The usual suspects in class showed up, but things would be possibly shaken up in the points series.
My first run was conservative, but a good opening time. The second run was looking really good as I ran my fastest time of the day, close to the current points leader. I figured I had a shot at finding my way up a step in class, but it was not to be. While sitting on the start line a Cobra replica decided to part ways with its front left suspension. The result was my getting cold under inflated tires.... gee, great. Thanks.

45 minutes later, I set out for my 3rd run, and was slower than my 2nd. The 4th run was all kinds of bad, I clipped 1 cone, and got frustrated, then exiting out of a fast sweeper, I got into a beautiful long drift, but the following right hand exit to the straight away resulted in a massive spin (around I went twice.

) I got things straightened out only to spin again a little further down. I spun a 3rd time near the finish. This is a perfect example of why you don't want to get frustrated on the race course and drive like a jack-ass. I made a huge mess of the course, and ended up rather embarrassed following that run.
The good news for me is that the guy in 2nd place had a co-driver who blew up his engine for him. The bad news is that the 2nd place guy has a street 240z that I should have little trouble beating, but unless he is a no-show for one event, I can't catch him.
Here are some pictures.
The Cobra before breaking its ball joints and ripping the tie-rods apart. The wheel went rolling away with the brake system and parts of the suspension attached.
I have the month of July off, so some changes will be made.....

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
