Hello all!
Last Saturday I bought a ’69 roadster 1600 and a garage full of parts. I am new to Datsun’s and vintage cars in general. This is the only vintage convertible that presses my buttons at a price I can afford. Buying it was a no brainer but they seem tough to find in my area (Northeast). So I was pleased to find it… all original and true. The car had been sitting 12 years so we drained the gas and gave it fresh. We drove it out of there to my mechanics shop ~ 15 miles no problem.
This was the guys’s 12th roadster so we filled up a 15 foot box truck and two SUVs with a ton of parts, many NOS new in box.
She needs a paint job (this winter) and a kit to redo the softop. I plan to post parts (top and rims) wanted to buy and parts for sale.
In the meantime… I could use some advice for a soft top. My vin is in the 1600 SPL17001 to 27000 range. The boot and frame seem OK but I’ll probably need the weather-strip. I would love to trade if possible, but maybe someone can recommend a place to buy because I need the top ASAP. I have done a lot of research on the web and I found 5 places that have them in vinyl and cloth.
So many things to do with this. I think I would like to keep it original stock but I have all the parts to sup it up (dual webers etc)… also thinking about painting it blue instead of the original (Spanish?) red.
Can’t wait to talk with you folks to get some knowledge. I have 8 transmissions and 8 motors. And I would like to thin the herd a bit… most are for the 1600 but I have one of each for the 2000. So if anyone is in need and is close, please holler. I plan to upload pix etc. and give more info in later posting.
Thanks to all in advance! See you on the road….

Welcome to the Looney Bin.
Sounds like you scored a great deal. Look forward to pics.
Yes, Datsuns of any model are not as common the Right Coast. You should have no problem trading/selling your extra parts.
