A couple more pictures.

After unloading the car in the morning. It was unhappy to be left out side over night.

My friend is a tile setter (the guy driving in the first picture.) He was doing a little advertising. You gotta love magnetic numbers. I guess it could be looked at as a business expense (the gas down and back).

Will Great Job! and great write up. Your buddy got a workout...you need to tell him that he needs a body that can handle all those lateral G forces!

Sounds like you have the car really working well I run a similar tire pressure setup in my roadster for the best results. Are you doing tire temps at the end of your runs to see where you stand? an inexpensive laser temp gauge is a handy little item and it will tell you if you are over or under inflated when used properly. It will also tell you if you need more camber in the front of the car. :)

Speaking of camber how is the car doing since your last allignment? better?

Also, let me know if I can help you with gear sellection for your roadster. I am not sure that top speed in the straight will be more benificial than exit speed in a corner. interesting to find out what works....

I will also get you the specific model number of the alternator I use in my race car so you can shave a few lbs.

Now lets talk about the Porsche emblem on your doors, my retina's are still burning...what is up with that!! :)

Ron,
We had the lazer pyrometer, but it stayed in the truck. We didn't have time to run and get it. I might see if I can play with it on Sat if I run with a different Porsche group. Notice the # isn't my usual #14. PCA assigns #s and that is my friends #. I just added an "A" to it to avoid any confusion. Its funny, the Porsche guys cheat in vintage stuff, and they cheat at their own events.

As for the alternator p/n, take your time, I bought a replacement for the one I have as its base mount is so chewed up that it won't sit straight and will be swapped out this afternoon. I'll go to a ligher one down the road. I just don't have the time to mess with setting up another version thats not a plug and play setup. I'm going for 3 race weekends in a row here, and another on the 6th.

As for camber issues, I might be able to use more, but the tire wear is almost edge to edge. I might get full edge to edge with 1 lb less pressure in the front. My friends comment was "wow this thing doesn't understand the word understeer." He was also impressed by the way it would clean its self up with a simple lift of the throttle when the back end was way out of line. (First run, cold slicks, rain on the course, fun fun fun. I think I caught 5 or 6 spins before they happened.) Gearing wise, its a tough call. Through the really slow corners, a 3.9 might be too tall to pull 2nd, but I'd almost give some time up in those situations for a little more top end rather than possibly blowing the thing up. 2 weeks ago I think I saw 7500 RPM at the end of a slalom. It wasn't happy about it, and I would have had to upshift, then in the same motion down shift again. My fix for the issue was give up the end of the slalom to save the engine. Not my ideal comprimise. The following corners were all 5500 rpm 2nd gear corners.

We deal with that at Vintage events also. We now have the capability to weigh and pump motors for displacement.

We just busted a group of vintage porsches that were way under min weight and all had 2.5liter motors max displacement was 2.0liter.

Amazing, learn how to drive and have fun, drive fast. Don't cheat.

Ron,
I almost fall in the cheater category. I technically have a 2052cc displacement. Its not a true 2.1, but not a 2L either. I also still have some semblance of and interior, and all the window glass. I'm still good for my vintage class that I normally run. (Displacement is open, just has to have the correct series engine for the car.

I'm trying to get geared up for roadster vs. the PCA round 2. Its a localized chapter of the PCA. I better cool it for this one, I could get myself uninvited by the rest of the PCA  No I won't, I might pull off a bigger upset. I hear this course has some elevation change. Thats a new twist.

Well, the PCA guys are big race fans with lots of racing history, and to their credit they will let just about anyone run with them. It is a shame that there is such an ego within the group that would modify their P cars to the point where they are no longer legal for a racing class. Even for Auto X.

I guess they have to be winning...

So here are the results: They got my time and my friend Trekkor's time mixed up. We ended up 13th and 21st. I didn't think there were that many cars between us. It looks like we went 1st and 3rd in the "FUN" class. I lost out to a supercharged Miata. If anyone wants to see the full results I can post them, let me know.

1st and 3rd in class (stupid supercharged Miata) and 13th and 23 out of 103 drivers. Not too bad. Here is a link to the full results.

There is some seriously expensive stuff out there. I'm off for this weekend, and back at it on the 29th against the PCA, and the 6th for the NORCAL UFO race in Marina. Anyone else have 6 races in 4 months this year?

Very proud of the "Primered Porsche Eater". Just change the door sticker to WillStyle.com when you drive.

It's funny, some of the guys with the budged to afford it seem to cheat because they can, and they assume everyone else does, so that makes it equal. Kind of like the Ethics Commitee at the State Bar Association. No offense to any Porsche-driving lawyers.

Lou,
Thats my friend Trekkor Wills who does the tile work, I can do tile work to save my life :D. I can do a good job of undoing tile, I've gotten very good at that. I remove half the wall at a time.
