Hi from another Aussie.
Hi guys,
I've been playing with roadsters for a few years now and am currently restoring a '65 1500.
Previously I owned a '64 1500 fitted with an H20 and a weber. This was a fun little car but it had a pretty dodgy body job done on it previously and basically began to fall apart. It was soon sold so I bought a '65 1500 from a mate as an abandoned project and am currently working my way though it.
This car is currently being fitted with a Z18ET engine and 5 speed gearbox. It will have later style guards with the larger flare and the bumpers deleted. So it will be more of a custom job.
I'll post some chassis/body resto pics soon and also the engine swap pics as it is completed.

It is a sister engine to the Z20/22/24 engines we got in the early 80's in the last of the Datsuns before the Nissan name change. These were based on the L series engines with a crossflow head. The Z18ET was not available in Oz. I'm pretty sure they were JDM only and were found in the 910 bluebird and the S110 Silvia. They are basically an L series block with a crossflow head. They were made during the early '80s and had very basic engine management. Fuel control was via a JECs L-jet analog computer with the old flapper AFM. Ignition timing was handled by the distributor with mechanical advance and a vacuum/ boost retard canister on the side.
The will all be turfed in favor of a Megasquirt ecu controlling fuel and ignition. And an intercooler added too.
Anyway, I'll detail the build more in another thread.
