Hello. I lurk from time to time but decided to sign up. I bought a rusty 69 2000 as a consolation prize a little while ago thinking I'd never find a 67 2000 but behold one came along and I bought it too. It's #88 (yes the one on and off ebay recently) engine U20-00214 with the Mikuni carbs and big finned oil pan. It's the real deal. Unfortunatly the ID plate is gone but it has everyting else it's supposed to have to ID it as a true 67 2000. So I'm psyched. Plans are to mildly customize the 69 and restore the 67 as budget allows. More later.

Congratulations! That one looks like a solid prospect in spite of the funkalicious interior. I think that I still have a couple of blank ID tags in the garage. PM me if you want to replace it. I can stamp it for you too.

Welcome Kman and good luck on your projects. I think that 67.5 had been on Ebay several times already. It looked like a good base project. Hopefully you will bring it back to its life prior to being pimped out. Enjoy.

Thanks. yes it had been on a couple of times. I had called within a couple hours of the first time it was listed and he was already overwhelmed with calls. Someone had made him a significant offer by then and he took it off. But it never happened. The 2nd time he got so busy with work (they own a body shop) he pulled the listing. I decided that this time I wasn't going to let it go and drove up there with cash.
Let's just say it could be better shape but it could be a lot worse.

Hey,
How about a link to that Honda site. I've got my eye on a local '76 Civic but it's not a CVCC, which is what I am after.

One thing for sure, parts for the Datsuns, while sometimes not cheap, at least are available either from the dealer or thru some great vendors offering reproductions. Same can't be said for the Honda's (or Toyota's) I log on there under the username "Accordingly". I believe I got a hood scoop grill for you a while back IIRC.

Ha. I won something without even entering. I like that. Without giving anyone the wrong idea I think the upholstery job on mine was pretty well done for it's day. It's a bit ratty now but still quite comfortable. Makes me want to put on some disco.

The car was originally white with (I think) red vinyl upholstery. I will have to tear into it a bit to be sure on that but the metal backrest cover plate has red vinyl under the nifty red velvet

I got bigger problems with it right now. I can't keep it running for more than a few seconds, primed with ether. An aftermarket electric fuel pump is getting fuel to the carbs but I don't think the carbs are delivering it properly. I will have to do a bit mure reading and fiddiling with them (mikuni). Of course and suggestions are appreciated.

Yes you did. I forgot to thank you. Unfortuately the UPS guys must have played baseball with it so it came to me in 4 pieces, but I did some creative epoxying and got it back together. You're right about the Datsuns. It appears that the only problem with restoring them will be earning the money. I may have an accord part or two in my stash. I'll let you know.

The interior in mine was similar, Really well done, very comfortable, just tacky. My wife wants me to dye the seats black and put them back in, I'm considering it. the Corbeaus are nice, but made for someone shorter than me.
Scary part is one of the other Roadsters I have is Bright Red with a white vinyl interior.... A trend?

The 67 1/2 is a runner!

It was just a clog in the fuel line so no big deal. There is quite a different sound between the two types of carbs. Me likey the Mikuni's :) The engine ran very strong. It is not a driver yet though. The brakes are very soft and the hyraulic clutch needs help. I did get to turn it around in the driveway and repark it in the garage though. Some cool things so far... Working round jeco clock. Working spring up antenna. working under dash map light. LOVE the switches. Working AM radio. Only one crack in the dash. 160 mph speedo. And who else has a velvet lined glove box

More later.
