New 1966 owner. So Cal

Post by oldschoolpl510 »

Hello everyone.
My name is Jason. I am a big 510 fan, and love most old school cars (not just japanese). Since I work for Infiniti, I have an all Nissan lineup right now. I sold my AE86 in may to fund my 510 build. But not having a car to cruise in is depressing. So I started looking for a toy to drive while the 510 is under the knife. While looking on ebay I accidently won this roadster on ebay. I just bid I didn't think I would win. Luckily my wife likes it. Other than the ugly stripes, I think I got a prett good deal. So I towed it home and worked on it every night. I spent a couple of days re-wiring it, after about 2 weeks I had it running.
I put on some new wheels and springs, and now it is such a blast to drive.

Welcome Jason,
nice lookin' ride. I like the stance.

There are numerous roadsters scattered around the SoCal area, drivers, clunkers, clunker-drivers, beautiful resto's, work-in-progress (my personal category, and will be for years), and some pretty hi-tech engine swaps.
Where are you located?

We just had a fun run thru Angleles Crest and up to Taft, back down thru Carpinteria, which has quite the fun, twisty roads. The following weekend was a get-together at Calif. Speedway to watch Ron Carter and John Morton race some vintage roadster racers (sorry I missed that event!)

Any twisties you know of in your area we would be glad to come enjoy. Doesn't take much to get attendees.

Parts collections galore. I am sure some of your 510 technical and parts knowledge will come in handy.

Welcome to 311s.org!

great looking roadster! You have done well. I too have a 510 that is being restored to its original racing trim again.

I will warn you, this is a disease, now that you have a roadster, and 510 soon you will have to add a 240Z to your stable.

Come out and watch us race these grand old cars, I post periodically when we are going out to race locally in southern california.

Yes, that does look very good. If you can stop at just one you are a strong willed person. Well, either that or married with children. Any way , welcome to forum.

Don't forget a truck: L320, NL320, 520/1 or 620. :P

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to meeting you at future events. Although completing the datsun trifecta with a Z would be nice, I'm limited to my 2 car garage and huge So Cal living expenses.

*The wheels are SSR Reverse Mesh. I took the front wheels from two different sets I had and the fit pretty well. I forget the offsets (0 to -5 I think), but they are 15x7.5 and 15x7. The springs are some comp springs for the 510. No clue if they were originally for the roadster or not.

If the fronts were flat on both top and bottom; they are probably Roadster.

If one end terminates in a spiral direction (whatever that means - best way I can think of to describe) it is for the 510 rear.
