Original Early 67 Stock Wheel Marking(s)?

Post by Linusrp »

Does anyone know what markings are on the original stock wheels? I know they were 14"X4.5" wheels. This sounds crazy but I have a full set that measures some where between 14"-15" and have a marking that says 'AJX15'. They also have eight(8) slots and every picture I've seen or original roadsters seems to show nine(9) slots. They aren't currently mounted with tires so I can look at the tires. Thanks for your help.

They look just like the originals, except for the number of slots. If they aren't original does anyone know what they might be from? They are 4.5" wide, four bolt pattern.

I never bothered to count the slots. The early 1600 cars (pre 67.5) had 14x4 wheels. The later cars (67.5 - 70) had 14x4.5 wheels. Earlier cars (1500s) had 13x4 wheels. The only ones that I have ever found markings on were the late wheels. I don't have one handy, but the markings were about 45% away around the rim from the valve stem and said something to the effect of 14JJx4 1/2.

Z wheels look visually similar to the Roadster wheels, but do not have the tabs for the hubcaps. They also came in different widths. Some folks have retrofitted the tabs, so that could be what you have.

Thanks Sid,

I rechecked all of the wheels and four are correct, but one is actually a 15 inch as mentioned before. Guess I'll start looking for a single stock wheel. If anyone has a single they want to part with please let me know.
