Hi there. I've got a question regaurding a fully stroked out R-1600 engine. H20 crankshaft, rods, big SUs, etc, etc.

I have an RL411 SSS (same R-1600 engine as the SPLs), and was wondering what kind of performance data you get with your modified engine. Accelleration speed and cost, being primary questions lol

Yeah Brent, I wish I had some hard numbers from a dyno for you but I do not. I probably spent as much on my stroker has some have on their SR20 swaps. A machine shop did all of the work on the motor and they have not been very forth coming on details. I am a bit more savvy now than the first time around. I plan on buidling another stroker with a different shop doing the machining and me building the motor myself. The first shop used small block Chevy valves and did a lot of porting and polishing. I am leaning towards using either the U20 valves or the H20. I like the 2 liter SUs and they provide plenty of pep for the stroked R. Mikunis/Solexes would be nice but just are not in my budget. The cam is a pretty important component and Joe from American Cam can do you one up to squeeze every bit of power out of your motor. I probably did not answer any of your questions but it is the best I can do.

I was only dreaming and fantasizing anyway Doing something like that just isn't in the budget, unfortunetly. ...Sounds like a really awesome project though! If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I'm going to do, is beef up the RL411!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can take a shortcut and buy an H20 short block from a forklift dealer. Get a head that has been milled to the point of having too much compression for the street, and it will work. Don't know what the block will run, but an over cut head is cheap - lots of folks chuck them.
