Looking for car
Hi everyone. I thought this might be a good place to start my search. I am in the Upland, Ca. area and am interested in purchasing one of these fine looking roadsters. I am currently the owner of a 75 Triumph spitfire, I think I want to sell the Spit and pick up a SPL311. If anyone knows one in the area, I would appreciate the help. Also any knowledge about what to look for when buying would be great. I am loking to spend 3-4K. Thanks again.

RE:Looking for a roadster
There is a '67 on ebay right now with a buy it now of $2500.00 and it is worth every penny. The guy that owns it has been around the other roadster list for a year or so now. He has done a ton of work to it. Granted it needs a paint job but most of the mechanics have been dealt with already and lots of upgrades. The car is located in Las Vegas, NV http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2453466836
Or give Mike Young a call. He has an assortment of roadster projects to pick from. He is listed on the vendors page of the main site. Good luck.

Cars for sale
I know of 2 1600s that are for sale here in the San Luis Obispo area, one is white with a tan interior that has been gone through, I am checking it out this afternoon, and another one that is red and needs some work that I will look at tomorrow. The guy with the white one is asking about $5000 for it, the red one is $2500 or best offer. I will check both out and post my thoughts on them tomorrow.

Roadster for sale
So I just went and looked at the white car, it is the ivory white, but the interior is tan. The chrome is fair, the paint its self is good. It is an early 66, has 1500 side trim. The dash is painted the body color. Engine starts and runs well. Tranny feels good. The car does need some work, the horn and turn signal do not work, and the steering wheel is loose. Beyond that the car is nice, has steel wheels with hub caps, in the rear, the fenders have been rolled. The glass is nice, no rust that I could see. Its not a show winner, but it is a nice driver. The guy has all the recepts for the resoration. It has the correct nonsmog head as well.
The guy wants $5800, he is not really trying to sell the car but will if someone offers the right amount. In my honest opinion, the car isn't worth $5800 in the condition its in. It could be with some better chrome, and the little electrical issues. He says that it needs about 5 hrs worth of tinkering to be all set. If you are interested, the guys Cell # is (805) 550-7699.

It has 1500 side chrome? You mean on the rear fenders (sort of clipped - not pointed on the end) or on the front? If it is on the front, the car is likely a 1965 1500. A very rare Roadster. Depending on who you believe is accurate, there were fewer of those than 67 2000s. I have seen statistics showing anywhere from 650 to 1500 of the 2 seat 1500s being made.

Getting closer
I just posted my spitfire on E-Bay, if anyone knows an interested party, check out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2454860604. Thanks for the thoughts on some cars out there so far. I do not mind small items that need repair, but I don't have the time for a complete resto project. I would like on that is very good mechanically, maybe needing paint and interior to finish. What is the parts availability like? I do not have alot of time to hunt for parts, I like to click and buy with ease. Thanks again for the help and your time, will talk again soon.

Cars
The car I looked at yesterday is a 1600. The block # was 17XX, so it was an early one. The paint and interior is fine, it just has a few little issues that need to be adressed. The side trim is not like that of the later cars, much different shape, its thinner and taller. I have seen a 3 seat 1500 and it is not one of those. Engine parts are easy to find, the engine is still being used as a fork lift engine. Other stuff is getting harder to find but it is still easy enough. I will try to go look at the other car tomorow, I need to do stuff today, so I can't make it over the hill to check it out.
