Ken,

If the bearing goes bad it will make a heck of a racket. What signs are you feeling or hearing that makes you think you have a bad throw-out bearing?

First double check to make sure you have the slave bled and adjusted properly. It is an easy adjustment and can cause problems if not done correctly. Loosen both nuts on the slave adjustment rod, tighten one up taking all the slack out of the fork and then back off a quarter turn. Lock the two nuts back together. A bad throw-out bearing will definitely make some noise. If the above did not work-- Sounds like it is time to pull the motor and tranny and do a complete clutch job from pilot shaft bushing, to clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. Has the clutch been is use for quite awhile? Another thing that can happen is that you may have lost a spring on the pressure plate which will cause shifting problems and wierd noises. Good luck.

the clutch setup was transfered from my r16 unit (2l setup) that was pulled after less than 2k miles...
i had the fly wheel turned and replaced the pilot bearing.
i really don't want to pull my motor out just yet... would like to wait until after solvang and couple of local runs... i never had a throughout bearing fail on me before so i don't know what to expect...
what is/are my consequence(s) if i let it go until total failure?

thanks

Worst case is the clutch quits working completely. Most likely if you can bear the noise you will get by with it for quite awhile. So is it an R16 clutch on a 2 liter or did I read it wrong?
