Good luck, Alvin. Wade's been MIA for a while now.

Doh! I must have missed that. Well cool, hopefully we can get an update. I was wondering what made you think of resurrecting the thread.

ole skool

Doh! Sorry guys. I have been all over the place the last few months. Drove it into work about a month ago, and still loving it. A couple of adjustments are being made. I am switching the Weber linkage to a rod and cable system with an under-mount linkage off of a Lotus. I like the pull ratio adjustment better than the current setup and it has a better throttle-return setup. Dropped a couple of 2 degree Pro-comp shims under the rear axel to make a slight pinion-angle adjustment.

Other than that, lovin it. Need to get some pics of the restored gauges and one with the hardtop on. In the meantime, we have been building a 66 SPL311 vintage race / hillclimb / rally car. Here are some pics of the cage going in:

Also bought Russell Roach's vintage racer, so the garage is filling up with 3 roadsters, the P1800 and the Shelby. My neighbors think I am crazy, and for some reason the people at the office are starting to say the same thing. Anyone have a big trailer so I can bring them all to Solvang?

I am going to a little more extreme

Post by thonlyreal1 »

I have a nice 350 Chevrolet sitting in the frame of my 1969 Srl 311...I am leaving my 1967.5 stock after considering converting it to the U20 that came out of the 69...
It Looks like there may be a few mods to be made. But, my intentions are not to butcher the car..The original early model 350 motor mounts sit nicely between the frame rails and above the original motor support on the frame..
The only real trick I can see will be the radiator, but I am sure an nice custom aluminum radiator made to the right dimensions will take care of the problem...

There is a cool website of a guy that put a 302 ford motor in his.. unnfair.com He went through some problems, but It appears he had inherited most of his problems...

By, the way, I have a rebuilt U20 Motor for sale..It has never been driven..I bought the car from the Machine shop that installed the engine, after the customer could not pay the bill...

Sounds like a cool build! Start up a new thread here in the Engine Swap section so you can detail the build and we can discuss it.
