Fender material question

Post by Skyman »

I am getting ready to mount my front fenders. When I removed the fenders over a year ago, I recall a thin foam type material between the fender and the body where it mounts at the rear. (Running verticaly behind the door). Is this material available? Is there something else I could use? Any other tips or advice on mounting these? I will be taking it to be painted in a couple of weeks. 8) Thanks in advance.

Any good body supply store should carry the sealing foam. They usually have it in varying widths and thicknesses. It comes with an adhesive backing on one side.

Personally I did't use the foam when doing my fenders. I was thinking it would help trap water, thus causing rust. I used a bead of silicon to keep water out and reduce any movement.
